Addo Elephant Park
Addo Elephant Park was started in 1931 with only 11 elephants. Today Addo is home to over 450 animals including elephants, cape buffalo, rhinos, zebras, and many kinds of antelope (springboks, impalas, and kudu). As we began the tour the guide his first first stop was at a huge pile of elephant poop. He sat and talked for about 10 minutes about the exciting dung beetle. After that we were all a little worried about what we were going to see on the rest of the tour. To our surprise we came around the corner and there at the water hole were over 40 elephants. The baby elephants do not have control of their trunks until they are about 2 years old. It was hysterical to watch them fling their trunks all over the place. They were so cute!!!
Natalie and I thought this picture looks like the two elephants are sitting around gossiping.
"Can you believe how big her butt is...I know...how embarrasing"
There were elephants everywhere. I bet we saw over 200 elephants that day.
One of my favorite animals I saw in South Africa was the Kudu. This is a full grown male. You can tell because they have 2 1/2 twists on the horns. They are beautiful.

Wow, so cool to be able to see this in their natural environment. I mean we see them at the zoo but they just seem so depressed. It's depressing to see them depressed. I'd love to see them in their element like this. I'd be a little freaked out but it would be awesome.
