South Africa Day 5 & 6

Day 5
We left Cape Town in the morning and went to church in a township right outside of Cape Town. The members were so excited that they have a new building. It was very small, but nice. The members were all so friendly and each one came up to us and shock our hand or gave us a hug. It was a memorable experience!!!
After church we were on the road again heading for the town of Knysna. On the way we stopped in Hermanes for lunch on the beach. There were some boys there singing opera for money. They were probably only 11-12 years old. Both of them sang their hearts out and were covered in sweat. I can't imagine my kids having to do something like that to survive. Their smiles got very big when we gave them money!!!

In Knysna we stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast across from the beach. The garden was full of flowers and Natalie took some gorgeous pictures of the flowers. We ate dinner on the waterfront and watch the sunset again.

I love this picture. I felt like I was in Venice.

Day 6

We got up early and they serve us breakfast at the B&B. The ladies who run the place were so nice. They have been having a drought in SA so they were so excited to have thunder drops (rain) for the first time in weeks.

Well did we have thunder drops!!! We went to a game reserve in Plattenbergbaai (Plattenberg bay). It was pouring down rain and we were in a jeep with a cover, but no windows. I was in the middle so I didn't get as wet as the others. They got soaked!!!

We were riding in the jeep with a family from Germany. They had brought 3 children with them. A 6 year old, 2 year old, and a 11 month old. Man are they brave. The baby cried most of the time because it was so cold and rainy. When we entered into the lion area the guide got really serious and told us the lions are not dangerous unless there are things that scare them (like a baby crying). The mom was able to nurse her to calm her down and we went inside.

The lions were only a few feet away from us!!! I have to say I was pretty nervous.

We saw many different animals. It was a great adventure.

WOW!!! I think I would have been pretty scared of the wild animals as well. Ryan would have LOVED that part I'm sure.

Everything looks so beautiful there.
