I'm not sure when this started but hasn't Halloween turned into the never ending holiday? Since Ryan and Katleyn go to year round school they are off of school for Halloween. So two weeks ago it all started with the fall festival. The kids on C track all got together and had a party. I was in charge of the games and let me tell you they were the hit of the party!!! We did relays, threw eyeballs into the bucket and bobbed for gummy worms in whipped cream. It was a great way to start off the Halloween festivities. Sorry no pictures.
The night before Halloween our ward had a trunk or treat party. Ryan decided that he wanted to come up with his own costume this year. He put it together all by himself. I think he called it "the goofy man."
Katelyn went as Wonder Women. Here she is blocking all the bullets coming at her.
Ryan and Katelyn carved pumpkins just in time to light them up for the night.
Anyone who grew up in Colorado knows that Halloween night is usually the coldest night of the year. NOT THIS YEAR!!! The high for the day was 75 degrees. At trick or treating time it was about 60. We had a party in our garage with about 30-40 people. Of course I planned on it being cold so we had chili and hot chocolate in our shorts and flip flops.
The kids played football in the front yard while they waited for it to get dark.
Ryan opted to be a football player on Halloween night to be be more like his cousin Zach.
Ryan's friends Donovan and Peyton came over for the party. Donovan is the one in the hysterical sumo wrestler costume. It's even funnier from behind.
When it got dark everyone split up into groups and left to trick or treat. Ryan had mapped out the route that they were going to take the night before. Since the weather was so nice, it was Friday night and they were a little older they did really well. I think we filled up 8 large freezer bags with candy. I took a few of my favorites out and am sending the rest with them to their dad's house tomorrow. I need it out of my house!!!

Love the goofy man costume.
I agree that Halloween drags on and creates so much unnecessary work for the mom. While we were out Trick-or-Treating, Kaleb asked me what the point was of Halloween and I really couldn't come up with an answer. It really is kind of a dumb holiday.
Love the chili and cocoa idea and usually totally fitting in Colorado this time of year. I remember it always being SO cold there for Halloween. I am sure it was a nice surprise to have such great weather for a change though. :)
looks like sooooooo much fun. the kids are adorable. i love that Ryan wanted to make his own costume. what a great kid!
I gotta get me one of those Wonder Woman costumes. I can think of so many ways to put it to good use...
Karen, I'll give you ten bucks put it on and post a picture of yourself.
Yeah, I'm with banananutmeg, I'd pitch in ten bucks if you put on the wonderwoman outfit and took pictures of you dodging bullets.
I can think of a couple bullets you've dodged in your time... hmmm.
xoxo Syd
